VISTA awarded three-year bid for kids only HMO
Unique plan offers lower cost solutions for employees of School Board of Broward County
HOLLYWOOD - January 7, 2004 - Vista Healthplan, Inc. (VISTA), a health benefits company, announced today it has been awarded a three-year bid for its VISTA Kids HMO by the School Board of Broward County (SBBC). VISTA Kids HMO, offered by the SBBC, is a unique plan designed for employees to reduce costs and address the health benefits needs of children. The plan gives teachers and other SBBC employees more choices and solutions to help reduce their health insurance costs.
The VISTA Kids HMO helps reduce costs by covering those health benefits most used by children and excluding the costly health benefits most used by adults. VISTA Kids HMO includes coverage for immunizations, preventive services, vision care, dental services and prescription drugs. Other more expensive adult health benefits are not covered under the plan.
Employees can choose to insure their children under their employer group plan by selecting the traditional family coverage or by opting to enroll their children in a separate plan, the VISTA Kids HMO. Children, newborn through age 25 (if registered as a full time college student), are eligible for membership in the plan. Premiums in the kids plan start as low as $101 per month for one child from age five up to 21 years old.

"VISTA Kids HMO is a solution that gives employees a way to lower the cost of their dependent coverage compared to the traditional family coverage available under their current plan."
In October 2002, VISTA was awarded a three-year accreditation, the highest level of achievement for a health plan, from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for its commercial, Medicare and Medicaid HMOs. Status as an accredited health plan means that Vista has passed a series of nationally recognized standards set by the AAAHC.
